Shooting on 16mm because you cannot afford to roll

Stuart McIntyre made his directorial debut on Sam Fender's "People Watching", shot on 16mm with DP Max Goldman, produced by China Presles at Wanda in Paris, edited by Talia Pasqua, with Andrew Scott in it.

The interesting part is that the format was chosen as a constraint, not a look:

Shooting on 16mm meant I had to be conservative, which is far from my usual approach. I love to let the camera roll, to discover moments organically, but this limitation forced all of us to be intentional, to trust our instincts, to make every frame count.

Every few years someone rediscovers that a finite magazine changes how a crew behaves. It keeps being true.
